Dr Marsha Butler was integral in founding the Alliance for a Cavity-Free Future (ACFF). Throughout her career she has pioneered for children’s oral health, championing prevention in children from as early as 12 months old. Forging a successful career in practice, Dr Butler continued her career with Colgate-Palmolive for over 30 years becoming DMD, Vice President, Global Oral Health and Professional Relations.
During her time at Colgate-Palmolive Dr Butler led the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures (BSBF) initiative which improved the oral health of over 1.3 billion children. Identifying that there was a lack of education and access to dental care Dr Butler developed BSBF to offer free dental screenings and oral health education to children across the world, with support from schools, governments and communities. The award winning curriculum at the heart of BSBF has been translated into 30 languages and is a permanent fixture in school curricula across the globe.
After 31 years at Colgate-Palmolive Dr Marsha Butler began a new path in her career in 2021 as founder and president of The Butler Initiative LLC whereby she provides executive coaching and enterprise consultancy, sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience. Dr Butler is an advocate for people of colour, in particular women, in the corporate world and has advised a diverse female leadership group and non-profit organisations.
Dr Marsha Butler has been a tremendous support to the ACFF since its inception. We would like to thank Dr Butler in acknowledgement of her invaluable contribution to caries prevention and the ACFF. We wish her all the best for the future.
