First Speakers at the ACFF Global Virtual Summit Announced

We are proud to announce the first of our speakers at the ACFF Global Virtual Summit, a three-day virtual conference exploring the landscape of caries and caries prevention in a post-COVID world from the 12th – 14th October 2021.

There will be a Live Forum on the 13th October focused on ‘Caries After Covid: Reflections, Ambitions and Plans’. This event will include presentations and a live panel discussion with international leaders in oral health, including:

Prof. Nigel Pitts

Professor Nigel Pitts (FRSE BDS Ph.D FDS RCS (Eng) FDS RCS (Edin) FFGDP (UK) FFPH) is the ACFF Global Chairman and has served worked within the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences at King’s College London since 2013.

Alongside his work at King’s, he is the leader of the Global Collaboratory for Caries Management (GCCM) initiative and co-founder director of the ICDAS foundation.

He is also an Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health to Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and a Past President of the European Organisation for Caries Research (ORCA), the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry (BASCD) and the European Association for Dental Public Health (EADPH).

Prof Avijit Banerjee

Avijit is Professor of Cariology & Operative Dentistry / Hon. Consultant and Clinical Lead, Restorative Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences, King’s College London / Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospitals Foundation Trust, London, UK.  He holds the positions of Chair / Head of Conservative & MI Dentistry and Programme Director of the innovative KCL blended-learning Masters in Advanced Minimum Intervention Restorative Dentistry (open to dentists and therapists globally: google “KCL AMID” for more info). He also leads the Cariology & Operative Dentistry research programme at the QS-ranked world’s top 5 Faculty of Dentistry (as part of the Centre of Oral & Clinical Translational Science).

Dr James Taylor

Dr Taylor currently serves as the Secretary of the FDI Section of Chief Dental Officers & Dental Public Health. Having retired as the CDO of the Canadian Armed Forces, he currently serves as the CDO of Canada, where his mandate is to work with stakeholders in the Canadian and global health communities to advance population level oral health through health promotion, disease prevention and professional/technical guidance, with an emphasis on vulnerable populations. Dr Taylor is a member of the Core Group of the ACFF Dental Policy Lab Network.

Dr Marko Vujicic

Marko Vujicic currently serves as Chief Economist and Vice President of the Health Policy Institute at the American Dental Association. Previously, he was Senior Economist with The World Bank in Washington D.C. where he focused on health systems reform in developing countries and directed the global health workforce policy program. He was also a Health Economist with the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. In all of these roles, Dr. Vujicic led large-scale strategic initiatives focused on bringing cutting edge data and research to specific health policy challenges.
