Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the ACFF France Chapter has had a busy and productive couple of years, overcoming many of the issues caused by the pandemic as well as collaborating with many national and international projects.
The members of the Chapter’s Board have been involved in many national projects including developing the French guidelines on fluoride in caries prevention alongside the French Union for Oral and Dental Health and the College of French Teachers in Paediatric Dentistry. They have also pushed for the recognition of paediatric dentistry as a speciality. They have taken part in the Caries OUT multicentre single-group intervention study which trialled the adapted CCI effectiveness in one single group.
Excitingly, the Chapter has also been involved with the launch of the EXPRESO clinical research study, which is being led by Dr M Mazevet. The EXPRESO project is the largest dental public health initiative in France to date and is supported by dental trade unions and the National Health Insurance. The project looks to remunerate dental practitioners effectively for preventive procedures, incentivising patient health over more traditional ‘fee-for-service’ models and is currently being piloted in regions of France.
The Chapter has also contributed to chapters dedicated to prevention and management of carious lesions in “Clinical guide of Paediatric Dentistry – 3rd Edition” (French book published in March 2022).
Looking to the future, the France Chapter will continue to support the projects they are involved in and promote minimal intervention for management and prevention of caries in patients.
The Chapter would like to thank everyone that has collaborated with the Chapter, as well as each of the Board members for their continued hard work and commitment. It is only through collaborating together that we can hope to achieve a cavity-free future.
